Beach of Citara

A dive in the sea of Ischia

Terme Parco Maria Hotel overlooks the beach of Citara, one of the most stunning beaches in Ischia. The beach of Citara is only 1500 m from the hotel and is easily reached by our free shuttle with fixed schedule, or even on foot.

The bay of Citara is located on the west side of the Island and offers the most stunning sunset views. Its crystalline waters and the virtues of the hot springs gushing from the earth have been known since Roman times. In fact the Romans dedicated the beach to Venus Citarea of whom a marble bust was discovered. Today the bay stretches under the jagged coast of Punta Imperatore providing a long strand of fine sand ideal for children, couples and families. A small portion has free public access and there are cafés and restaurants along the beach. The sea transitions from blue to green and the reefs have become part of a mythical, legendary past. The beach of Citara is home to the famous Poseidon Gardens, the largest thermal park in Ischia and one of Italy’s best equipped centres, with over twenty hot thermal pools kept at various temperatures, saunas and natural caves, as well as state of the art wellness treatments.
